The ITENE research centre provides companies with cutting-edge knowledge and technology to build a safer, more sustainable future.
Our mission is to generate scientific and technological knowledge that we transfer to companies through R&D and innovation projects and consultancy, testing and training services.
We deliver solutions in four main areas: sustainable materials and technologies for the circular economy; design, safety and functionality in packaging; chemical exposure and air quality monitoring; and logistics and smart mobility.
ITENE is a research centre, which was set up as a private Spanish non-profit association, founded on 30 May 1994.

Our milestones
R&D&I accounts for more than 85% of our activity. Between 2020 and 2023, we worked with about 1,900 customers.

Spanish Social Integration of Disabled People Law (LISMI). At ITENE we believe in equal opportunities, as well as in fostering and promoting employment opportunities for disabled people. ITENE has over 2% of people with disabilities in its team.

Equality Plan. There are equal opportunities for men and women in all positions and levels of responsibility in ITENE, as is reflected in our 2022-2025 Equality Plan. This plan establishes a series of measures designed to meet a single goal: equal treatment and equal opportunities for men and women in the workplace.

Work-Life Balance Plan. ITENE has a Work-Life Balance Plan that includes over 25 measures so that the people who are part of our team can successfully balance their family, personal and working lives.

Development Policy. We have our own job category system that enables us to objectively assign each person to their corresponding level and professional status, as well as to monitor and promote them with a specific career plan for each position in the organisation. We are committed to the development of the people in our team through continuous feedback between managers and co-workers.

Training Policy. We promote training at all levels of the organisation so that our team can acquire the knowledge required to effectively perform their tasks and to develop and grow professionally. We believe that we can only offer knowledge to our customers and to society if our team receives ongoing training by taking part in training courses and attending national and international trade fairs and congresses.

Recruitment Policy. We manage and recruit specialised and scientific talent. We already have a team of more than 180 people, 120 of whom are R&D and innovation researchers and experts. We want to continue to have the best talent in our team, which is why we run selection processes that enable us to recruit top professionals.

Environmental policy. Through its R&D and innovation, consultancy and testing services, ITENE helps society to use natural resources more efficiently and plays a relevant role in contributing to current environmental challenges such as climate change and scarcity of resources, and the development of technological initiatives that promote environmental responsibility and sustainability, both at corporate level and in society at large. ITENE's environmental policy establishes the principles for risk management and environmental compliance and aims to minimise the environmental impact of its operations and to maximise its ability to tackle the environmental challenges facing society. Information security policy for suppliers and stakeholders. ITENE's security policy showcases its commitment to protect and guarantee the principles of confidentiality, integrity and availability of the information handled in the organisation. At ITENE we work to an Information Security Management System, in compliance with the ISO/IEC 27001 standard and in line with the Spanish Personal Data Protection Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD), of 5 December.

Compliance Policy. ITENE has a compliance policy in which zero tolerance is expressed with respect to conduct that may involve non-compliance with regulations of a criminal nature or unethical behavior.
At our facilities, located in the Paterna Technology Park, we have 12,000 m2 of infrastructures, of which 5,000 m2 are laboratories and pilot plants equipped with state-of-the-art technology .
We are currently expanding our current headquarters by an extra 1,100 m2. In addition, we have a new 1,928 m2 building, located opposite the current headquarters, for industrial pre-scaling projects.

Seal "Fent Empresa. Equal Opportunities". ITENE has the approval of the Equality Plan and the seal "Fent empresa. Igualtat de oportunitats", whose use is regulated by the ORDEN 18/2010, of August 18, of the Generalitat Valenciana. This Quality Seal is a recognition to the companies of the Valencian Community that stand out for the application of equality policies and that have obtained the approval of their equality plans.

- Focused on research and development of new testing methods and solutions to optimise and validate distribution packaging, its equipment is the first European transport simulation machine capable of simulating the physical and mechanical risks to which goods are subjected during the distribution cycle.
