The 27th IAPRI Packaging Symposium on Packaging was held from 8 to 11 of June 2015 in Valencia and it counted with more than 120 packaging researchers from 27 different countries

IAPRI Symposium is an annual prestigious forum where leading researchers and global experts gather to share their research findings on packaging, distribution and logistics field. This year Symposium was hosted by ITENE in Valencia and had a record number of paper submissions with 63 oral presentations and over 40 posters with the latest scientific innovations on packaging and logistics. 11 peer reviewed papers will also be published later in the Journal of Packaging Technology and Science.

More than 135 scientific papers were presented to the Symposium with Food and Distribution Packaging as the main topics. The other 3 more representative topics were Packaging Materials, Active and Intelligent Packaging, and Packaging Sustainability. IAPRI is the global peak body for packaging research, and is responsible for fostering the exchange of research initiatives by more than 1,000 experts from 80 packaging research institutes.

Social events

A complete social plan was scheduled during the event. Attendees participated in these networking activities and had the chance to discover beautiful places of the city of Valencia as the Malvarrosa beach, the City Centre views from a rooftop and the Albufera Natural Park in a boat trip, while enjoying traditional Spanish food

IAPRI Awards

This year’s winner of the Most Promising Scientific Work prize was Victor Huart of METROPACK for his paper “Realisation of Wöhler curves on packaging systems”.  The prize for the Best Oral Presentation was for Corinna Keupp of TU München for her paper “Online monitoring of volatile freshness indicators from modified atmosphere packaged chicken meat using PTR-MS”. The last IAPRI prize winner was Sawanya Luerathanawongchai who was recognized for her poster “The Effect of Light Supplemented Packaging on Potted Dendobrium Orchid during Simulated Sea Cargo Shipment”.

IAPRI Conference 2016

The 2016 IAPRI conference will take place in Sao Paulo 12-15 June 2016. The event is hosted by Packaging Tecnology Center- CETEA.
