ITENE attends the 4th Global Packaging Summit in Barcelona

The Research Center has participated in a workshop about the European project, ROPAS, which has the objective of integrate intelligent and wireless sensors in packaging and courier distribution packages to improve security of courier/postal and goods delivery.

The Research Center has attended the 4th Global Packaging Summit 2015. ITENE has participated in a workshop about the European project, ROPAS, which has the objective of integrate intelligent and wireless sensors in packaging and courier distribution packages to improve security of courier/postal and goods delivery.

During this conference, the project partners presented and discussed their vision on the added value of printed electronics in packaging Some issues that were addressed are security, brand protection, monitoring, tracking and tracing. Furthermore, some specific application and business cases were exposed to explain the opportunities of this new technology and its application to the packaging sector.

ROPAS project aims to create several high-impact applications such as anti-theft security tags for courier deliveries, smart labels to inform consumers about the temperature and humidity of deliveries, or even the intelligent track & tracing and opening of postal/courier envelopes.

The 4th Global Packaging Summit, from 26th to 27th of January in Barcelona, is an event that offers the opportunity to meet packaging innovations to reduce costs, the development of the latest sustainable packaging solutions, and to obtain new design ideas adapted to consumer demands.  

ROPAS project is funded by the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission.
